I’m afraid it’s time for bad news.  Unfortunately, due tovery few members showing an interest, we have to postpone our annual presentation evening, planned for Friday 4th July.  We apologise for the short notice, but we have been holding out, hoping that we’d get a lot of last minute ticket-buyers.  Sadly, this has not been the case. 

Although we never look to make money on the evening, as a non-profit organisation, we have to try and  cover our overheads.  Regrettably, we’ve come nowhere near.  We will try to re-arrange the event for the near future and ask that members try to make the time to participate.  It’s a fantastic, fun evening and no one is more upset than your instructors.

If you’ve already purchased a ticket, please bring it with you on Thursday night for a refund.

This years Herts Area Championships will once again be held at St. Albans Judo club.  The weigh-in times are as follows:

• 09:00 Primary under 20K and under 25K
• 09:20 Primary under 30K
• 09:40 Primary under and over 35K
• 11:30 Junior
• 14:00 Senior
• No downward weight change will be allowed.  Upward weight change fee: £2.00

Conditions of entry 

• Entrants must produce a current BJC licence on the day.  The licence must include a photograph and date of birth.
• Only Team Managers may consult with the mat marshall.

Competition regulations

• No coaching allowed during the competition
• No drinks to be taken to the side of the mat
• Only Zorris (or flip-flops) are permitted at the side of the mat.  Wearing everyday shoes or trainers could result in a disqualification.
• The organisers reserve the right to amalgamate any weight group

Primary groups - prohibited techniques

• Armlocks
• Strangles
• Sacrifice throws
• Leg or Ankle grabs
• Kubi Nage (where the neck is encircled)
• Maki-Komi (when tori lands on top of uki)
• Drop Knee Seoi Nage

Junior Groups 45K and Under - Prohibited techniques

• Armlocks
• Strangles
• Sacrifice Throws (exceptions Tomoe-Nage and Yoko Tomoe-Nage)
• Kubi Nage (where the neck is encircled)
• Drop Knee Seoi Nage

The club is holding its annual party/presentation evening at Dunstablians Rugby Club on Friday 4th July 2008.  If it’s your first year with the club, this is an event you don’t want to miss, if you’re a long-standing member - you already know that.  This is your chance to see us, your instructors, making complete monkeys of ourselves on the dance floor.  Stay tuned for news on ticket prices and times etc.

Unfortunately, last week the club could not open due to myself being stuck at work and Ken being laid up with an injured back.  Unfortunately this all happened at about 16:00 on Thursday evening, so our apologies for the lack of notice.
